Paihia, in the Bay of Islands, is a Tender Port. Most cruise lines will tender passengers into the Waitangi wharf, on occasions when we have two ships in port, one ship (usually the smaller) will tender into the Paihia wharf.
Free shuttle buses run all day from Waitangi wharf into Paihia village (approx. 5 mins) and return back to Waitangi, until the ship departs.
We offer a 1-hour Experience on the Thunder Trikes – covering all the sights of Paihia and surrounds. Head out to the unique half-moon shaped Haruru Falls for a quick photo, then up to Waitangi Lookout and capture the breathtaking 360-degree views of the Bay of Islands with your camera, plus get your pic taken behind the handlebars of the big beast with your ship in the background. Definitely, a pic to remember!
From there make your way back to Paihia, and out thru the winding bush covered roads onto delightful Opua – a picturesque little sea-side town. With more photo opportunities and a “Thrill” ride back to Paihia.
We are located at the shuttle bus drop off point in central Paihia (end of the Paihia wharf)
– Look for the THUNDER TRIKE TOURS footpath sign and chequered flag –
you won’t miss us!
